In a house on a small island just off the coast of Devon, ten little soldier statues have been strategically placed in the center of the dining room table, in the livingroom ten strangers have been brought together by an unknown Mr. U. N. Owen. Each of them sent a letter that contained perfect persuasion or a set of instructions for them to follow. Vera Claythorne, Philip Lombard, Anthony Marston, Dr. Armstrong, Mr. Blore, Emily Brent, General MacArthur, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, and Mr. Justice Wargrave have made themselves at feel at home. It wasn’t long after they introduced themselves that they realized this would not be the trip they had in mind. Through one single gramophone record their deepest darkest secrets resound throughout the house. The voice of judgement accused each of the strangers of a certain murder. Marston was the first to go. Choked on his drink, he did. His need for speed caught up to him. “Ten little soldiers went out to dine, one choked his little self and then there were nine” (Christie 33). Frightened, Mrs. Rogers calls it a night, only she doesn’t wake up the next morning. “Nine little soldier boys stayed up very late, one overslept himself, and then there were eight” (Christie 33). Only eight little china soldiers remain and the guests of the house soon realize that the killer is among them. They’re all a part of an evil little game. Will the houseguests find out who this U. N. Owen is before it’s too late? Find out in Agatha Christie’s thrilling novel, And Then There Were None. Christie, Agatha. And Then There Were None. New York:Penguin, 1987.
