It is interesting to hear about Steinbeck's writing process. How he would begin with writing letters to various people, then write in his day book, then he would begin writing an average of 2,000 words a day. It has been said that during the 100 day process of writing The Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck was “filled with anger at people who were doing injustice to other people.” One thing that was shocking was how he got death threats for his book. Then again, maybe that’s just a sign that the book is a good book. The anger people have towards it somewhat promotes the novel and can spike someone’s interest to find out why everyone is so angry. Though some critics and people still speak negatively about the story, it is still one of the most popular novels in American history.
